FAIR LAWN, N.J.— Helen M. (Riener) Kohler died Saturday, Nov. 28.
She was born in New York City, and raised in Bogota, N.J.; she resided in New York prior to settling in Fair Lawn 50 years ago.
Kohler was a member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary in Ridgewood, and was a volunteer in the renal care department the Radburn Seniors, St. Anne Seniors and Van Riper Ellis Seniors, all of Fair Lawn. She also was a member of the Livewires of Fair Lawn, Elmwood Park AARP, and was a lifetime member of the Paramus Woman’s Golfers. Prior to retiring in 1972, she was employed as a secretary with CIT Financial Corp. in New York City for 18 years.
She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Kohler; loving and devoted aunt of Linda and Gary Kohler; and the cherished great-aunt of Keith and Jeremy Kohler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Hospital Foundation, 223 N. Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450; on memo section of check write “Restricted to Valley Hospice.”
